About this project

Value Line is a small reference site about the arithmetic of value betting: implied probability, the margin, expected value, closing line value and variance. It is written to be checkable rather than persuasive.

§01What the site covers, and what it does not

The site covers the measurement side of betting: how a price becomes a chance, how a margin is removed, how expected value is computed from an estimate, how closing line value is used as an outside reference, why variance dominates short samples, how to read movement, and which apparent edges are not edges at all.

It does not cover picking winners. There is no selection service here, no tip, no model output, and no claim that any market can be beaten by a reader of these pages. The site is deliberately arithmetic-only because the arithmetic is the part that can be written down correctly and checked.

  • Arithmetic that can be checked
  • No tips, no model output
  • No claim that any market is beatable

§02How it is built

The site is generated as static HTML by a small Node script. Every page is a single file with no runtime JavaScript of any kind — the only script tags are JSON-LD structured data. Links are extensionless, canonicals are self-referencing, and a sitemap and robots file are generated alongside the pages.

Every page is verified over real HTTP before it is published: each route, asset and internal link is requested, and the checker fails if a status code, canonical, structural data block or affiliate display rule does not match. The published pages you are reading passed that check against the live origin.

§03What the site refuses to do

Three refusals shape everything on it. It refuses to present an estimate as a fact, because the estimate is the weak part of every calculation on the site. It refuses to recommend any operator or market, including the partner whose link appears in the header and at the foot of each page. And it refuses to imply that a positive expected value is a route to profit, because the distribution guarantees nothing to any individual bettor.

On the affiliate links

The links to the partner operator are sponsored and we may be paid if you open an account through them. That is disclosed on every page. It does not change the arithmetic on the page, and it is never a recommendation: the correct number of bets to place after reading this site is often zero.

The pages, in order

Start where the arithmetic starts

The natural order is price, then chance, then edge, then the outside check. The sponsored partner link below opens a live market so the arithmetic can be run against a real number rather than an illustrative one.

Affiliate disclosure and risk warning

Every affiliate link on this page and in the header is a sponsored link to a partner operator, and we may be paid if you open an account through it, at no extra cost to you. That link pays us; it does not price the market for you, and it is never a recommendation to bet. Nothing on this page is betting, financial or legal advice, and no price, model or result on it is a prediction. 18+ only. Betting is gambling: a measured edge is an estimate and the estimate can be wrong, the operator's margin is built into every price you are offered, and a selection with positive expected value can still lose — including many times in a row. Gambling can cause serious financial harm, including debt and damage to relationships and mental health. Never stake money you cannot afford to lose, never borrow to bet, and never increase a stake to chase a loss. Free, confidential support is available in most countries from national gambling-harm helplines, for bettors and for the people around them.
